“LAZOSCHMIDL SS21”
Written as a romantic B-movie, the collection is based on the story of two heroines on a road trip exploring love and independence.
The collection features an eclectic mix of colours and materials dressing the complete cast of a never-to-be-produced movie. Following the couple's stops travelling Utopia, settings range from cheap hotel pools to fast food restaurants and Karaoke bars. A majority of outfits are tailored in swimwear fabrics made of recycled PET bottles allowing their future wearer to jump into the pool fully dressed. Cow-print ensembles, retro stripes and lurex glitter biker shorts underline the overall nostalgic vibe – while hand-dyed denim, sheer organza shirts and sequin applications add a touch of indulgence. We see the return of the iconic Lazoschmidl butterfly as well as a movie poster print by New York based photographer and painter Scott Csoke.
LAZOSCHMIDL is a menswear brand founded 2014 by Josef Lazo (B.A. Womenswear, London College of Fashion) and Andreas Schmidl (M.A. German and Japanese literature, Goethe University Frankfurt) and unites the disciplines of fashion design and literature. Combining their cultural and educational backgrounds in a unique design process, each collection is developed from writing. A script builds the backdrop for various characters who determine the individual looks and respective garments. This script can be a poem, a fictitious song lyric or short story.
